AIdentyfy is an app for Mt.Sinai Ortho Center, NYC, that provides accurate and easy-to-use digital solutions to help orthopedic surgeons with preoperative planning, tracking medical records and execution during index and revision surgeries using AI-powered analytics. The main goal was to deliver a holistic and comprehensive experience that streamlines identification and knowledge delivery for multiple generations of surgeons, both boomers and younger generations alike.
Time is most critical when getting ready to go under the knife. The annual total joint replacement surgery market is $15.4 billion, of which $1.5 billion is spent on revisions. Studies report that surgeons spend 30 minutes to identify the implant before surgery. In addition, operation time and sterilization of surgical tools are wasted when the implant is not identified correctly beforehand. Estimated that up to $2,700 can be saved per case, totaling $700 million, annually using AIdentyfy App.
Surgeons can easily misidentify a pre-existing joint implant, and mistakes in the operating room come at a heavy price. AIdentyfy provided the insight, and that knowledge needed to be communicated effectively. When a surgeon takes a photo of a patient’s x-ray or MRI that contains the joint implant, he will instantly know the make and model of the implant.
